Visit New Orleans Cities of the Dead — Rarely explored gems showcasing everything from architectural splendor to revealing decay and the heartfelt histories buried within! Learn how and why the Catholics started our unusual burial traditions as we wander St Patrick's Cemetery and add a bit of tribute to the Irish immigrants who came to our city. Next off to the most opulent Cemetery in the Country, Metairie Cemetery which boasts tales of Madame's, Musicians, War heroes and some infamous politicians as we continue our explore. The breathtaking tomb designs beg for this adventure to spark you personal photo-journalism desires to emerge-cameras a must! The tomb of Civil War General P. T. Beauregaurd is saluted along with many unsung heroes who have fought for New Orleans then and now as we walk toward Holt cemetery which is next on the list . Mainly this is considered a Paupers field and though it may look to the untrained eye to be a run down and forgotten cemetery, the reality it is the most remembered and it teems with spirit and a special kind of folk art only New Orleans seems to know. This will leave a lingering question for you to answer: Which of these Cemeteries is actually the Richest cemetery in New Orleans?
